Carrie Shryock (Artist)
Scrolling through artist Carrie Shryock's Instagram feed is one of my favorite pastimes. She is always up to something creative and fun and her feed is a wonderful window into her many projects. Whether she’s painting lovely landscapes in one of her sketchbooks, creating brightly-colored abstract pieces, or adding beautiful floral patterns atop existing photographs, there is always something interesting and inspiring to see! Moving through her feed you might catch a glimpse of one of her pretty black and white paintings that are inspired by vintage photographs or one of her outfit drawings, were the artist and the art become one. The list goes on and on!
I love imagining Carrie in her house in Missouri, conceiving and creating all these wonderful projects! I can’t wait to see what she does next! You can check out Carrie’s Instagram feed right here, and here website here. Scroll down to learn all about her inspirations! Thanks, Carrie! ~Erin

I love Abbi Jacobson's new podcast, A Piece of Work. It was created in collaboration with MoMA, and in each episode she and one of her famous friends visits the museum to learn and talk about a piece of modern art. Sounds funny for a podcast, because you can't even see what they are looking at, but, really, it's so good.
Read
Alone on the Wall by Alex Honnold. Honnold is a rock climber who is known for his free solo climbs—in other words he climbs huge rock faces with no ropes and nothing to catch him if he falls. I love tales of adventurous people who push themselves to the limits, and I found myself holding my breath at points throughout this book because what he does is absolutely crazy. Entertaining and suspenseful, yes, absolutely, but also a look into the mind of someone who is skilled in what they do with confidence that is off the charts. Also, it made me want to go spend a few months in Yosemite National Park.
Watch
The Beguiled. A little dark. A bit suspenseful. Beautifully filmed.
