Carissa Potter (Artist)

Carissa Potter

To be honest, I’m not a big social networking fan. Social platforms have their benefits, but they also have their drawbacks. (Hello friend who invited me over and then logged onto Facebook for no apparent reason while I sat on the couch staring at the walls!!) That said, I will admit that it's a great way to stay in touch with people. It also is a great way to discover new people as well: artists, designers, chefs, whose work you may not have otherwise seen. Let's face it, without Instagram I probably would have never seen Carissa Potter’s sketchbook drawings and that would be a damn shame! If you haven’t seen Carissa’s work you should definitely head over to Instagram right now to check it out! Her drawings are so simple, yet they say so much about the human condition. With just a few lines of ink, and minimal color, she always manages to communicate exactly what I'm thinking.

Social feeds can often make people feel very isolated, but Carissa’s page manages to create the opposite effect. Her dark humor and honesty always makes me feel a little less alone. Watch

I saw 20th Century Women a few weeks ago. It was so good. I feel in love again. I left the theater feeling better. I am really into comedies or feel good shows. I try to avoid sadness and horror. If I want those things, I read the news.
