Nastia Sleptsova (Illustrator)
When I first started this site, six months ago, I don’t think I fully understood how much I love art and artists from Eastern Europe. Without even realizing it, my last two posts have been on artists from that area and, today, I’m excited to share another one of my favorites, Ukranian artist Nastia Sleptsova! Nastia, who draws beautiful scenes of everyday life, has the wonderful ability to turn ordinary moments into something completely charming and picturesque! Her illustrations of home life (daily meals, a child’s room, walks with the dog) make me long to step into the scene, so I can live inside her lovely world! I'm a huge fan of the way she draws houses and buildings and the details she gives to each and every space. Whether it’s a pet, a piece of food, or a toy, her little details always feel perfectly selected.
You can see more of Nastia's work on her website and on Etsy. While you're there, be sure to check out her house brooches (see picture above). They're so cute! You can also find her on Instagram where she posts her drawings, along with lots of other lovely photos, all of which compliment her artwork really well! The whole feed is gorgeous! She shares her inspirations below. Thanks, Nastia! ~Erin
Listen
I noticed that August is a bit of a nostalgic month for me, so the songs I’ve recently liked are a little bit nostalgic, too.
Fleetwood Mac - Dreams First Aid Kit - Waitress Song (and, actually, I love all their songs!) David Bowie - 5:15 The Angels Have Gone
Read
Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury
Summer Book by Tove Jansson
Both books are summerly, touching, nostalgic, and it’s absolutely amazing to read them in summer.
Watch
Detectorists (tv series) - Incredibly kind and sincere series, also shot in the beautiful landscapes of England.
La tortue rouge / The Red Turtle (animation) - Touching story without any words.
