Sasha Ignatiadou (Artist and Illustrator)
Pattern layering is a technique that always fills me with awe. Whether it's clothing or artwork, I'm always amazed by people who can mix patterns and colors in a way that seems so effortlessly cool. Today's contributor, Russian-born artist Sasha Ignatiadou, is one of those incredible artists who has a real talent for layering unexpected patterns and colors. Combining both traditional painting methods with digital art, Sasha creates striking portraits that are complemented by richly colored and patterned backgrounds. The pieces are completely modern, yet call to mind Byzantine art from the Roman Empire. The women, fierce and stoic, stare at the viewer from an undefined time and place.
Sasha's work perfectly encapsulates the modern and the mythical and I love it! If you're in the mood for some intense color and pattern today, head over to Sasha’s website or Instagram feed to check out more of her work. Scroll down to read all about her inspirations. Thanks, Sasha! ~Erin
Listen
I like all kinds of music, but one of my best of the best bands is Pink Floyd. And in my mobile phone there is always one of their albums. In recent times, I just love Echoes (Live in Pompeii) 1972.
