When I was a teenager, I remember asking my mother why all the paintings in our house were floral still lifes. Can we please, please, please hang some real art around this place??? Okay, so I didn't actually say that, but I was thinking it! Over the years, my hatred of flower paintings has lessened. They are actually a lot of artists out there doing really interesting and amazing work with flowers. One of those talented people is today’s contributor, Jessica Phoenix! Her incredible floral paintings feature bright colors and lush blooms that practically jump off the page. Even if you don't normally like floral pictures, you will change your mind once you see Jessica's work. It is, frankly, too beautiful to resist!

Music is huge for me, so it's hard to narrow things down. A full album I've enjoyed recently is Little Fictions by Elbow. I've loved this band for years. I think Guy Garvey's lyrics are so on point, and he writes about love better than anyone else, in my opinion :) Stand-out track for me is "Trust the Sun."
A particular song I've been obsessed with is the new song from Sufjan Stevens, "Saturn." Sufjan is the only person who's use of autotune I actually enjoy.

I am not super familiar with all of Mount Eerie's music, but this interview with Phil Elvrum was just so haunting. His new album was written in response to his wife's death, and I was so moved reading bout how he's processed that grief. I'm waiting for the right time to finally delve into the album.
