When it comes to photographs, I always fall in love with work that evokes emotion in an unusual way. The pieces I gravitate towards usually juxtapose the surreal and the every day. They present a familiar image and then turn it on its head. So it’s no surprise that I was instantly drawn to the work of today’s contributor, Brooke DiDonato. According to Brooke, her photographs “illustrate the narratives of the psyche by pairing common sentiments with uncanny visual elements,” and once you see her work, you’ll you know exactly what she means! Her photos definitely carry elements of the unreal, but they still feel so truthful and honest.
