Lisa Solomon (Artist)
I first discovered the work of today's contributor, Lisa Solomon, via Instagram, where it seemed liked everyone, and I mean everyone, was posting photos of her glorious wall installation titled Senninbari (1000 french knots). Never in my life had I seen knots that were so beautiful! And I soon discovered, as I delved into more of Lisa's work, that the knot installation was just one piece in her an ongoing exploration of color. What Lisa's able to do with colors is really quite extraordinary. Looking at her work, seeing the shades develop, is such a joy. From bright reds and yellows to deep greens and blues, Lisa not only celebrates color, but also domestic crafts like crocheting, knitting, and embroidery, all of which play a large role in her work.
Lisa's work is a complete visual delight, but because she often creates large-scale pieces, its sometimes difficult to see the details in a photograph, which is why you should definitely check out her website, Instagram page, and Flickr for additional images. Thanks, Lisa! ~Erin

Watch
I just rewatched Jiro Dreams of Sushi. I love this film for so many reasons: the devotion and dedication to a particular craft, working a lifetime toward it, the beauty of food. Ahhhhh.
